TRAINING

We have a unique training philosophy, based on many years of education and experience. We emphasize clear communication and pride ourselves on the innate ability to confidently read each and every dogs’ temperament clearly, which is the blueprint for a professional training program.

Issues we can help you with:

Poor obedience | Dog aggression | Food aggression | Territorial aggression | Separation anxiety | Public socializing |

Introduction of new dog into the home | Potty training

We believe most behavioral problems stem from poor genetics, and the lack of clear communication between humans and dogs. Our goal is to educate owners on how important of a role they play in their dog’s behavior and that regardless of the age or breed there is still time to learn.

Using empathy, we understand that dogs communicate and process information in such a way that makes it unnatural for humans to clearly communicate with them, without some good professional education. Our job is to bridge this gap effectively.

No two dogs, or two dog owners, will ever be the same, so you must have the ability to tailor your training program based on the temperament, environment and skill level of both. In most cases, humans and their dogs will go through a learning and conditioning process to prepare and compete with the distractions that come with everyday life. We find that most of the time, the dogs catch on faster than the humans. We believe it is best for your dog’s training to be designed in such a way that he learns most behaviors on his own, we call this self-discovery or spontaneous behavior.  To us, this is one of the most important pieces to the puzzle.  It not only makes certain behaviors are your dog’s idea, but it allows us to manipulate the ultimate reliability.

Our love of dogs drives us seek out continued education on a regular basis, which continues to help us progress our program into the best it can be.

We meet the training boards minimum certification requirements for the initial training of narcotic detection canines.

Puppy Enrichment Course

Our puppy imprinting course is broken up into two separate stays at Dogstyle Inc. The first stay begins when the dog is between 6-16 weeks old and is typically about two weeks long. During this time we work on crate and potty training. We will set up a foundation for marker training by teaching your dog the association between food and rewards. These will be used to clearly communicate during conditioning. We will also start to put values on behaviors we will use later in life, such as sit and down. All training during this phase is off leash and based purely on motivation. The final component of the stay is environmental changes. During puppy imprinting, we will take the puppy to various different environments, watch how they react to the change and work the dog accordingly. Some dogs transition from one place to the next with little issue, while others will struggle. Dogs that stress during these changes will be taken and worked in different environments more often.

The second phase of puppy imprinting begins when the dog is around 8 months old. Your dog will then come back to stay with us for an additional four weeks. During these four weeks, we teach the dog a group of behaviors needed by the owners. Typically that will include sit, down, stay, place, recall and loose leash walking. This is when the behaviors we began during puppyhood are conditioned heavily and made to be reliable. During this time dogs are introduced to equipment for training, as they are now old enough to mentally understand it. You will be asked to come out for training session(s) on site to learn about their equipment and how to properly use it. We will also follow up with appointments in home to help you use your training there as well.

Kennel Evaluation

If during your initial consultation your dog is deemed as yellow or red based on our evaluation scale and you are considering day training, we will require a day for kennel evaluation. This day is used to gauge if staying in the kennel is suitable for you dog as well as if your dog can be safely handled by our staff. In the event your dog is not able to be kenneled, we will ask you to pursue private lessons.

$25

Day Stay

This is for dogs that will need time to warm up before beginning a day training course. Your dog will come for the day to get comfortable with the kennel and have relationship building time with their trainer without having expectations that the dog is ready for training. This will benefit the dog for when training does begin, as it will begin a positive association with Dogstyle Inc. This is also beneficial as by setting up these days separately from training you are not using sessions off your course when your dog is stressed or uncomfortable and not working.

$15

Temperament Evaluation

Different than a training consultation, a temperament evaluation is an hour long meeting with our trainers to have your dog evaluated. Whether you have just brought a new dog into your home and are unsure of their behaviors or you need a court mandated evaluation, we will be able to give you an assessment.
